Hybrid workplace
We know that some employees prefer working remotely while others prefer coming into the office more regularly. We value the flexibility and enhanced work-life balance that remote work provides and strive to maintain flexibility for employees while balancing our business needs, customer service and culture. In June of 2023 we completed a top-to-bottom renovation of our Bloomington headquarters to make it more hybrid-friendly so that when you’re in the office it’s easier to see and collaborate with coworkers, have versatile work space options to accommodate various types of tasks, and make hybrid meetings more effective.

Helping those in need
Our desire to give back to those in need is essential to who we are. Our home grown charitable foundation , volunteer and fundraising opportunities, company-wide volunteer day, and corporate donations are a few of the ways we support the community around us. SFM work teams also help decide which organizations SFM will support each year. In 2024, we became a member of the Minnesota Keystone Program , which promotes corporate philanthropy by recognizing and honoring companies that donate at least 2 percent of their pre-tax earnings to charitable organizations.

Friendly, fun and active
Group activities like bowling, boat trips, picnics, sporting events; and trips to the zoo, parks and botanical gardens are a few of the ways we have fun and get to know each other. And bean bags, bocce ball, shuffleboard and nearby walking paths make it easy to burn off some energy with coworkers when you need a break.

Promoting wellness of all kinds
Our wellness program encourages employees to take care of their physical, emotional, mental and financial health. Our summer pickleball league, fitness challenges and fun events encourage people be active and try new things. Our free healthy-food-of-the-month program exposes them to new healthy snacks. We offer free annual health screenings, a free subscription to the Calm app, and free healthy meal planning to make it easier for employees to make healthy choices and fit wellness into their busy lives.
